We are still reeling from the devastating news yesterday about SCOTUS possibly overturning Roe v. Wade and we are in the thick of primary season now. 13 states have their primaries in the month of May alone, including critical races that we’ve endorsed in several states Will you commit right now to voting in your state’s primary this year? Participating in our democracy has never been more important.

We have endorsed strong women all across the country, but one has a primary this month and has experience sitting on a supreme court – former Chief Justice Cheri Beasley in North Carolina. In her re-election for Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, she lost by only 401 votes.

Primaries are vital to our democracy because primary elections allow us to take part in choosing who our leaders are – and we’re very lucky to live in a country that allows that. Yet primary elections often have the lowest turnout and low voter turnout in the primaries this year could set Democrats up for defeat in November. For races like Chief Justice Beasley’s, voter turnout is everything.

When disturbing headlines like the one yesterday grab our attention, it’s critical that we focus on committing to vote for candidates who have our backs.
