Friend,

After the last 36 hours of processing the news about Roe v. Wade, there’s really only one way to describe how I’m feeling -- I’m pissed off.

Friend, I’m so angry with the extremist conservatives on our Court who authored this opinion, the Republicans in Congress that have stood in the way of codifying abortion rights, and the state legislators who have whittled away at our right to choose for decades.

I’m angry because no child or adult should be forced to carry a pregnancy to term against their will. Period.

I’m angry because I know that Black women and other women of color -- who have always been at center of the abortion rights movement -- will be the most impacted by this decision.

I’m angry because I know that regardless of the legality of abortion, abortions will continue to happen -- but they will be performed in the shadows. Lives will be lost, and that blood is on Republicans’ hands.

I’m angry, but we have to use that anger to fuel our fight for change.

We need Congress to codify Roe v. Wade immediately. We cannot wait another day while this absolutely fundamental right is at stake.

I’m angry, but I know I’m not alone. I’m joined by millions who are just as pissed off and fired up as I am. We won’t tolerate this decision, and we won’t stop fighting until our right to abortion is protected.

In solidarity,
