Overturning Roe v. Wade -- as we just learned the conservative Supreme Court has decided to do -- would be one of the most dangerous Supreme Court's decisions in modern history.
It's an abomination -- and I'm furious about it. And I refuse to sit back and let a few extreme justices rip away abortion access for millions of Americans.
So I just announced that the Senate will vote on a bill to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law. This bill would protect abortion rights nationwide -- and every American deserves to know where their elected leaders stand on it.
In overturning Roe, the Supreme Court would fail to protect reproductive freedom. It would fail to preserve the right to privacy. It would fail to uphold 50 years of constitutional precedent.
It would make abortion a crime in 26 states. It would rip away access to reproductive health care. It would trap people in cycles of poverty. And worse.
The Supreme Court should not have the last word on this. And I need you to turn your anger into action.
With a Senate Majority as thin as ours, passing this legislation will not be easy. But we simply can't afford to do nothing. And if senators are against protecting a basic, fundamental right, they must go on the record so that every American knows where they stand.
