🍎 📏 Teachers’ job satisfaction levels appear to have hit an all-time low, and it's not surprising why. The COVID-19 pandemic was difficult for teachers and students alike as classes were forced online. It remains to be seen if the public school system leaders can fix the problems that their policy decisions created for public school teachers. Read more.

FDA Needs To Promote Tobacco Harm Reduction, Not Bans

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced new “proposed product standards” that would eliminate menthol cigarettes and ban characterizing flavors (other than tobacco) in cigars. The FDA claims that such a move would “prevent children from becoming the next generation of smokers and help adult smokers quit.” While addressing youth use of combustible cigarettes and helping people who smoke quit is laudable, the agency ought to focus its priority on products that have both helped adults quit smoking and essentially eliminated youth cigarette use: electronic cigarettes, also known as e-cigarettes and/or vapor products. Read more.

Grown-Up Mother’s Day Wish List

A popular political Tweet about Mother’s Day is floating around. It says, "Things I want for Mother’s Day: federally paid maternity leave, pelvic floor therapy covered by insurance, lactation consultants for all, changing tables in all gender bathrooms, to not set our careers back when we have a baby, and affordable child care." It’s a nice list, but as with everything, the devil is in the details.

Don’t Bring Disorder in Law Schools To the Court

Recently at Yale Law School, over 100 students disrupted a debate, ironically, about a recent First Amendment case. But the protestors attempted to drown out the event before it even began, even though the organizers had planned a time for questions and answers at the end.
