Supreme Court has voted to overturn abortion rights, draft opinion shows
“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” Justice Alito writes in an initial majority draft circulated inside the court.

But last night's draft is confirmation of what we've been dreading; constitutional abortion rights are in serious danger and we're going to have to fight like hell if we want to protect them.
Abortion is essential, and every person has the right to make their own reproductive decisions — without interference from politicians. Over the last five decades, the Court has protected our reproductive freedom.
I'll be clear here, overturning Roe v. Wade will only stop safe abortions and it will have devastating consequences on the health and lives of pregnant people everywhere. I will not sit idly by as our rights are taken away and I hope you will stand with me to protect the fundamental right to reproductive choice.
The time to act is NOW. The House has already done our part in passing the Women's Health Protection Act to fully codify the protections of Roe into federal law. Now, it is time for the Senate to do what is right and pass this key protection to codify Roe v. Wade. Will you join me in demanding that the Senate swiftly pass the Women's Health Protection Act?
