This is an outrage, friend:

After obtaining a leaked draft of the majority opinion, POLITICO reports that the Supreme Court is planning to trample clear precedent and strike down Roe v. Wade. If it happens, the decision will go down as one of the most brazenly political acts in Supreme Court history.

Roe v. Wade has been settled law for decades. Generations of women have had the choice to decide if and when to have a child – to set the course of their own lives at the most basic level. This decision would usher in a dark era, setting the fight for women’s equality back decades. It’s infuriating.

Ending Roe has always been a guiding light of the right-wing movement to capture the Supreme Court. That apparatus spent big on the confirmations of Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, and Neil Gorsuch with the goal of rolling back a right that the vast majority of the American people support. The Court has no reason to stop there, either.

Each of the justices said what they had to say to get through the confirmation process turnstile, one by one assuring senators that Roe was “settled law.” Lifetime appointments in hand, the Court That Dark Money Built is delivering for its donor coalition.

While there’s no final decision yet, we cannot depend on the members of this Court to change their minds. A bill to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law has already passed the House. The Senate needs to act, and it needs to act now.

Please know I will continue to do everything in my power to hold our Senate majority and make sure reproductive rights are protected in this country – with or without Roe v. Wade – and to fix what is so badly broken at the Supreme Court.

Too many women have fought too hard for this progress. We are not going backwards.
