Two weeks ago, President Biden announced his plans to open up more public
land for fossil fuel companies to drill. It’s unacceptable.

Biden promised to end all oil and gas drilling on public lands during his
presidency and yet – he’s done the opposite. First, by hosting the largest
oil and gas lease sale in history, and now by opening 144,000 acres of
federal land across nine states to oil and gas drilling.

Ending these leases is one of the easiest things that Biden can do on his
own to lower our emissions – and it’s our job to make sure that he does.
So that’s why we’re collecting signatures to deliver directly to Biden:

Ending these lease sales would have a huge impact on the climate. Since
2005, about a quarter of the U.S.’s total emissions have come from
emissions from oil, gas, and coal extracted from federal lands.^1

At the beginning of his presidency, President Biden issued an executive
order banning new oil and gas leasing. But now, he’s turning back on that
by giving yet another handout to the fossil fuel industry.

The reality is simple: President Biden promised to make the climate crisis
a top priority, but by continuing these leases, he’s doing just the
opposite.

Biden MUST use his executive authority to end the federal approval of new
fossil fuel leases and deliver 100% renewable energy for all.

Otherwise, he is telling the American people that the fossil fuel
industry’s profits are more important than the future of our planet and
the next generations.
