Toward the end of winter last year, a lone box appeared one night by a dumpster at a New York correctional facility. Inside it were four baby ducklings.
Domestic breed ducks are unequipped to survive in the wild. Thankfully, the prison's officers took the helpless birds in from the cold and fed and cared for them for the next week. But a prison is no place for waterfowl-and so one of the officers contacted Farm Sanctuary.
