Dobbs Leak
needs to be investigated swiftly <[link removed]> – During oral arguments Justice Sotomayor mentioned the political stench that overturning a past decisions like Roe would have. And yet the particular political stench hanging over the court currently is in the form of a leaked first draft opinion in perhaps the biggest case the court has heard in 50 years: Dobbs v Jackson women's health. While it appears that a win is imminent for the pro-life movement and Roe is indeed headed to history's dustbin, the fact that the leak occurred at all calls the Supreme Court's integrity into question in a way we've never seen before. The consequences for the source must be swift and severe. The leak was a naked political act designed to change minds and perhaps, election outcomes. The court needs to release its official opinion in Dobbs asap to regain credibility and seal whatever gaps exist in the high court. Could the Supreme Court Leaker Be Criminally Prosecuted? Maybe. <[link removed]> – Roberts is right <[link removed]> that this was an “egregious breach
of trust this is an affront to the Court and the community of public servants” who work there. He has directed the Marshal of the Court to launch an investigation into the leak, and the marshal should quickly conduct and complete the investigation and make the results public. Let us hope that the authorities are able to discover who committed this opprobrious act and that serious consequences follow. At the very least, although an unfortunate measure to have to take, the court should consider taking additional measures in the future, such as adding individual watermarks to each of the drafts that are circulated to other chambers, which would help narrow the search for the culprit should this happen again. And the Supreme Court should quickly release the final opinion in the leaked case as soon as possible to avoid further threats or attempts to intimidate any of the justices. Record Number of Job Openings Shows Biden Policies Have Created Massive Labor Shortage <[link removed]> – It’s time for the Biden administration to stop its massive spending spree and stop discouraging work. This administration’s policies are forcing people out of the workforce and meaningful employment, and everyone is suffering for it. Instead of attempting to close off certain types of work so that more people can be forced into unions, the administration should encourage people to pursue employment opportunities that work best for them. What won’t work is forcing blue-collar workers to pay for impractical college degrees by ‘forgiving’ student loan debts and forcing the costs onto them. Instead, the administration should eliminate subsidies to higher education and open up alternative pathways to successful careers, such as industry-recognized apprenticeship programs and employer-driven education. Until this administration changes course, employers will continue to struggle to fill open positions, prices will continue to rise, and working Americans will continue to suffer. DHS created ‘disinformation governance’ team to track election misinformation <[link removed]> – The left can no longer use COVID restrictions or now, seemingly Twitter, to mislabel and hide legitimate information American voters should have in casting their ballots. Instead, they are standing up this board to declare what the left believes is mis- or dis-information. Policing disinformation is not remotely the mission of the Department of Homeland Security. The board is an overtly political ploy to try to chase opposing viewpoints from the political debate ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. Heritage Expert: Lora Ries <[link removed]>
Biden’s Open Border Chief Gets Hill Drubbing <[link removed]>- Words matter, and when Biden repeatedly promised to extend amnesty, to shut down Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and most
famously <[link removed]> “immediately surge to the border all those people seeking asylum,” millions of soon-to-be illegal aliens heard him loud and clear. They know well enough that all it takes is to show up and say the magic words of “asylum” and they will be let in and never removed. Under Biden, the famous Field of Dreams quote has morphed from “if you build it, they will come” to “if you destroy our border security, they will come.”Implementation of Biden’s open-borders agenda has been the primary responsibility of Mayorkas. With such responsibility comes accountability. And judging by this week’s hearings, and the American public’s complete lack of confidence <[link removed]> in this administration’s handling of the border, strict accountability is on the horizon. The Frankenstein monster of charter school regulations <[link removed]> – National charter school advocacy organizations feigned shock and horror when the Biden administration proposed new regulations that would strangle growth and innovation in the charter sector. They should not have been surprised at all. After all, Biden's action closely mirrored the regulatory approach these groups have been pursuing in the states. China’s Ongoing Persecution of Christians and the Case of Pastor Wang
Yi <[link removed]> – The Chinese Communist Party’s <[link removed]> attempt to bring religion under its control has been met with courageous opposition, and Wang’s testimony is a prime example. Wang has been adopted as a prisoner of conscience by a member of Congress as part of the Tom Lantos Defending Freedoms Project <[link removed]>. The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom should adopt Wang as a religious prisoner of conscience as part of their Religious Prisoners of Conscience Project <[link removed]>. The commission has a track record of success <[link removed]>, even in China. The religious convictions of Christians like Wang cannot be reconciled with the communists’ efforts to assimilate them into the party ideology. This conflict must be met with efforts—on our part and on the part of the U.S. government and advocacy groups—to alleviate the plight of Chinese Christians.
