Jack, Roe v. Wade will be overturned by the Supreme Court. That means we need state and federal laws to defend our right to bodily autonomy and abortion care. We need to vote, yes, but we also need to make it possible for all the people who will be impacted by this decision to have fair access to the ballot.

A leaked draft opinion from Justice Samuel Alito shows that the Supreme Court has voted to overturn Roe v. Wade. This leaked opinion is the result of years of Republican-controlled legislatures chipping away at voting rights, gerrymandering districts, and rigging elections to usurp power for the GOP to appoint far-right federal judges, and force a religious code of conduct on the American people.
Roe is still the law of the land, and we have tools at our disposal to keep it that way. We can codify Roe v. Wade in federal law. We can pass state laws that protect the rights of pregnant people to access abortion care. We can expand the Supreme Court.
But all those tools depend on us being able to vote in fair and free elections and elect leaders who will serve the will of the people. Right now, we know the deck is stacked, but we also know we can organize, mobilize, and turn out record numbers of voters even in dastardly conditions.

The majority of Americans support abortion rights, yet those rights are being trampled in the highest court – which has also gutted the Voting Rights Act, given corporations near limitless power to sway elections, and abandoned any sense of being a nonpartisan institution.
The far right's attack on our democracy has been methodical and intentional. The intention has been to wrest our hard-won human rights victories from our hands. This theft of our voting rights has been leading to this latest maneuver to steal our bodily rights.
This moment calls for abortion justice voters to not only vote, but to turn out our neighbors, friends, and community members to vote like hell in every upcoming election. We need to knock doors, volunteer for call shifts, give rides, help secure IDs – whatever it takes to get pro-democracy, pro-choice elected officials in the majority in our halls of power.
Add your name: I am a pro-choice voter and I am committed to getting out the pro-choice vote.
