Metro Labor Council Releases Endorsements

The Metropolitan Washington Labor Council, AFL-CIO this week endorsed more than two dozen candidates in the District of Columbia, Prince George's County and Montgomery County. "These candidates are receiving labor's endorsement because of their support for working people and their families," said MWC president Dyana Forester. "This year, more than ever before, it's critical to elect leaders who will fight for our issues, and the Metro Washington Labor Council will be mobilizing every union voter to turn out for our endorsed candidates." The endorsements were the result of extensive deliberation by the Metro Council's COPE Committees, coordinated by Political Director Dejah Williams, based on interviews with dozens of candidates and reviews of their responses to detailed questionnaires. The committee's recommendations were reviewed and voted on by MWC delegates on Monday, reflecting the broad diversity of the Council's affiliates. "We're developing mobilization plans now to get our members out to vote next month," said MWC Political Director Dejah Williams. "Stay tuned for updates soon!" Meanwhile, all MWC affiliates are urged to share these endorsements widely with your members via all communication channels, including social media, email and mailings.
