Celebrate The Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe
December 12, 2019
On December 12, 2019, we celebrate the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Our Lady
is Mexico's patron saint, Patroness of the Americas, and a symbol of love and strength
for Latin Americans and believers across the world.
Our Lady of Guadalupe has called Catholics back to the faith and moved others to
embrace the faith. Today, Our Lady continues to empower our evangelization efforts
with her constant proclamation of the Gospel. Most importantly, as the Patroness
of the Americas and the Star of the First and New Evangelization, she calls us
to encounter and accompany the stranger in our midst.
Partake in this celebration in your local diocese, parish, or school!
Please see the JFI toolkit [[link removed]]
developed for this occasion. We also suggest that you familiarize yourself with
the way in which other dioceses celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe; these celebrations
might provide a useful model:

* The Archdiocese of Washington, DC, holds an event in honor of our of Our Lady
of Guadalupe every year - Walk with Mary [[link removed]]
- which consists of a pilgrimage from the Shrine of the Sacred Heart to the Basilica
of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
* The Archdiocese of Los Angeles is holding its 88th Anniversary Procession and
Mass [[link removed]]
in Honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the oldest religious procession in the city.
It ends at East Los Angeles College, where Archbishop José Gomez will celebrate
Mass.
* The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston will hold its annual Our Lady of Guadalupe
Procession [[link removed]]
in Downtown Houston and Cardinal Daniel DiNardo will celebrate Mass at the George
R. Brown Convention Center.
* Bishop David Zubik of Pittsburgh will be the celebrant for the annual Mass for
the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe [[link removed]]
at Saint Paul Cathedral. Ceremonies will begin with Eucharistic Adoration, a Rosary,
and Eucharistic Benediction.
Our Lady of Guadalupe provides an opportunity to reflect on the current migration
situation, educate others on Church teaching related to this phenomenon, and to
recognize the important role that she plays in the lives of millions of Catholic
faithful.
Join us in celebrating and honoring this important and holy day!
In Solidarity,
Tony Cube
