Team, the leaked draft decision from the Supreme Court showing that they would overturn Roe v. Wade was a real gut punch.
If this draft decision stands, it will be yet another step toward the Supreme Court forfeiting its legitimacy as a body committed to justice for all.
Make no mistake, folks: people will lose their lives because of this. It’s a disgraceful decision that will roll the clock back for people l seeking abortion care a half-century.
But I want to be clear: This decision is not final. Abortion is still legal. And, if I am elected Governor, I will make sure that in Maryland, it stays that way.
So if you have an appointment, keep it.

I’m proud to have spent decades defending the fundamental right to abortion.
I had the honor to be among the first to implement and enforce the law to prosecute anti-abortion extremists when I served as a civil rights prosecutor.
Years later, when I led the Civil Rights Division for President Obama, I made it a priority to step up our game and protect the right to access and provide reproductive health services without interference.
I have worked closely throughout my career to give meaning to these rights.
As the next Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Maryland, Shannon and I will continue the fight to fiercely protect reproductive freedoms, remove barriers to care, and derail any effort to undermine access to abortion.
Abortion and reproductive freedoms are fundamental freedoms—and they must always be.
Today we’re asking you to show your support to others. If you can, please donate to the below organizations to help support residents across our state access the care they need:
THE BALTIMORE ABORTION FUND
THE JUNE ABORTION FUND
Remember Team, this isn’t over. Keep up the fight,
Tom
