I just left the Supreme Court grounds where I joined hundreds of folks in speaking out against the Court’s draft majority opinion overturning Roe v. Wade. Like so many of you, I’m heartbroken by last night’s news and outraged by the relentless attacks on reproductive freedom that have gotten us to this point.
Republicans have been plotting this very move for decades. Pack the Supreme Court with right-wing justices, pass unconstitutional abortion-ban laws in state legislatures across the nation, challenge Roe in the Supreme Court, and establish a harmful far-right agenda that would persist even after they leave office.
And now, they’re dangerously close to wiping out abortion access for people across the nation — putting the health and safety of millions at grave risk.
Yes, I am heartbroken and I’m outraged, but folks, I’m also determined. Abortion access is a fundamental right, and I’ll never stop fighting to protect it.
I’m calling on the Senate to pass my Women’s Health Protection Act to codify Roe into federal law immediately — and if we need to eliminate the filibuster to do it, I’m all for that.
