Last night’s news that the U.S. Supreme Court will likely overturn Roe v. Wade proves that the damage done by Trump and his allies goes beyond a four-year term. Today, we face the reality that access to safe abortions will be as restricted as it once was over 50 years ago.

This is a strong reminder that who we elect into office can have a lifetime of influence for generations to come. Now is the time to ensure Congress votes to codify Roe v. Wade by passing the Women’s Health Protection Act.

This year, voters across the 41st district will also have an opportunity to unseat Trump-endorsed Republican Ken Calvert -- who has been one of the strongest allies of the anti-choice movement. His A+ rating from the Susan B. Anthony List makes him a danger to have walking in the halls of Congress for the health and safety of women across the country.

At the end of the day, it’s marginalized groups that pay the cost of this disgusting political theater – minorities, those in rural areas, low-income families and the uninsured. I pledge to give it my all in this fight for reproductive rights and access to safe health care.
