PLANNED PARENTHOOD
Our concern is always for patients, above all else. And so I want you to hear this and share it: The leaked draft decision from the Supreme Court that indicates it plans to overturn Roe v. Wade has not yet taken effect.

Abortion is still legal. Our doors are still open. If you or someone you know needs care, Planned Parenthood is here for you just like always. You can also visit abortionfinder.org to find more providers in your area.

The court has not yet ruled in this case — but if this is its ruling, our worst fears will have come true: The constitutional right to abortion, which pregnant people have relied on for nearly half a century, will be eliminated by the Supreme Court. This majority of justices will advance a dangerous ideology that is hostile to our rights, our health, our lives, and our futures.

This draft ruling has sparked grief, anger, and shock across the country. Believe me, everything you are feeling right now is shared by so many of us in the Planned Parenthood family. There is anguish, there is rage, and there is worry — but there must not be despair. Not that. Because this is the fight we have planned and prepared for, and we need you with us.

Volunteers nationwide are mobilizing to protect abortion access. Join us for a planning call tonight at 8:00 p.m. EST.

We know the harm this ruling will cause, because we've seen it play out already in Texas and other states where abortion access has already been subjected to harsh restrictions. People will have to flee their states to seek abortion — if they can afford to. Those without resources or support will be forced to remain pregnant or seek abortion outside of the health care system.

Chaos and uncertainty will be added to the barriers to accessing abortion and other necessary health care services. The burdens of seeking care will fall hardest on Black, Latino, Indigenous, and other people of color, who are disproportionately affected by abortion bans and restrictions.

That will only be the beginning.

Just yesterday, the Washington Post reported on a coordinated plan to pass a nationwide abortion ban. This is an urgent crisis. The draft opinion from Justice Alito also puts other essential rights, including access to birth control and marriage equality, at risk.

We cannot take our rights for granted. We cannot assume that the freedoms we enjoy will not be undermined, eroded, and erased by lawmakers and courts. It is up to us, each of us, to rise up and commit ourselves to this fight.

This work will be done in your community. It will be done at your statehouse. It will happen in Congress. It will happen in the courts. And everywhere, it will be powered by people like you, fueled by your passion, grief, anger, and defiance.

Please, make an emergency gift right now to help fund this work and connect patients with the care they need.

This is not the fight any of us would have chosen — but this is the fight we are in. We need to find the courage and determination within ourselves to meet this moment. We need to support each other, join together, rise together.

As always, our highest priority is making sure that patients get the care they need. For now, abortion is still legal, and we will never stop fighting for the health and safety of everyone who counts on Planned Parenthood. I hope you will stay with us in the difficult days ahead.

Sincerely,
