Dear John,

There is no such thing as a free lunch – and that is particularly true of massive, permanent, multi-billion dollar government programs!

The recent federal budget included dental care, pharmacare, and $10-a-day daycare – all huge programs that, combined, would cost almost $25 billion dollars per year.

A new Leger poll commissioned by the Fraser Institute finds that these programs are very popular... until people realize that higher taxes will be necessary to pay for them.

69% of Canadians support $10-a-day daycare when there is no tax change linked to the new program. But that support drops to just 36% when the program is paid for by an increase in the GST.

Likewise, 79% of Canadians support universal pharmacare when no tax increase is attached, but support drops to 40% when the new program is paid for by a GST increase.

Check out the eyeopening results here [[link removed]], and be sure to spread the news on social media!

Sincerely,

Niels Veldhuis
