Friend – The Alaska State Senate is moving fast on SB 140, legislation that would exclude transgender girls from scholastic sports. The Senate Judiciary Committee advanced the bill out of committee on Monday and it may be voted on by the full Senate this week. Transgender students participate in school sports for the same reasons other young people do: to challenge themselves, improve fitness, and be part of a team. But SB 140 would deprive trans youth of opportunities available to their peers, solely because they are transgender, and send the message that they are not worthy of a full life. Thanks for sticking with us, ACLU of Alaska |
