John – I’m sure you’ve seen the news, but we’re in an unprecedented crisis for abortion rights.

Let me be clear: Abortion is still legal in all 50 states for the time being – but leaked court documents show that the Supreme Court will overturn Roe v. Wade any day now, stripping people of their fundamental right to make choices about their own bodies.

That’s why Civic Action is working with grassroots organizations across the country to stand up for reproductive freedom, and we need 10,000 people to join the fight by signing our petition as soon as possible. 

We urgently need you to speak out before an ultraconservative majority turns back the clock on reproductive rights by 50 years. Will you sign on now to demand that the right to an abortion is protected and codified into law?

If the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, 36 million women, and even more people who can become pregnant, in Republican-led states across the country will lose access to abortion – and if they can’t pay to travel to the nearest state where abortion is legal, they will be forced into dangerous and life-threatening procedures.

Not only will lack of access to abortion lead to worse health outcomes, it will also have a grave impact on the economic futures of those capable of child-bearing across the country. Studies show that women who were denied access to abortion clinics through state and local regulations are more likely to be in poverty two years later. Studies have also shown that access to abortion increases educational attainment and ability to participate in the workforce, while decreasing financial stress.

I’m not going to stand by while a small handful of extremists take away our human right to access the full spectrum of reproductive care – and I’m counting on you to join me in this fight for a person’s right to choose.
