Friends,
What we've all feared for years seems to finally be a reality. After decades of trying to dismantle a women's right to choose, extreme right-wing judges on the Supreme Court intend to strike down the landmark Roe v Wade decision, according to a draft majority opinion that was obtained by Politico.
50 years of judicial precedent is being overturned by insurrectionist sympathizer Clarence Thomas and Donald Trump's hand-picked judges Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett. Let me be perfectly clear: this is not a time to agonize, it is a time to organize. It is not a time to withdraw, it is a time to fight forward. It is not a time to surrender, it is a time to mobilize.
Republicans are hoping this is the final nail in the coffin of reproductive rights in America. They're not just trying to outlaw abortions, they are trying to strip Americans' bodily autonomy by forcing unwanted births and providing almost no support to the parent or child after birth. It's an unparalleled attack on pivotal civil rights, and it sets the precedent for them to go after more of Americans' liberties. We cannot let that happen. And we will not let that happen.
I know this is incredibly scary. But we have to stick together and fight back like lives depend on it, because clearly, they do. We will stand up for women. We will not let this go. We will register the unregistered. Inspire the uninspired. And in the end, we will save our freedoms. It's easy to feel defeated right now. But if you were thinking about sitting this next election out, I hope you'll see what’s going on right now and get fired up, because we need all of you on the field with us.
Thanks to this decision, Americans in several states around the country will likely lose access to abortions soon. So one of the best things we can do right now is contribute to abortion funds nationwide to help women get the care they need in states that still offer it. Will you join me in pitching into abortion funds and pro-choice groups around the country to fight back against the GOP and support women's freedom?
This is a major setback, but this fight is nowhere near over, friends. Freedom will prevail.
Thank you for standing with us in this fight.
