Friend,

Last night, we learned that the U.S. Supreme Court – thanks to its conservative majority cemented by Donald Trump – has reportedly voted to overturn abortion rights in this country. The protections of Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey could soon be eviscerated.

What we must do now is clear: Congress must harness the anger being expressed today and take action. There is no question we must pass the Women's Health Protection Act. It has never been more urgent.

This is perhaps the most important petition I've asked you to sign. You've taken action before, and I'm counting on you again: Please sign on to my petition to urge the Senate to pass the Women's Health Protection Act, which would enshrine the right to abortion into federal law.

As I've said time and again, the abortion bans that have sprouted up across the country – which are now set to be greenlighted by the U.S. Supreme Court – are successful attempts to violate the fundamental human and civil rights of women. Egregiously, conservative justices are abandoning doctrine aligned with the 14th Amendment, which paved the way for landmark civil rights decisions to end segregation and legalize interracial marriage. Instead, they are signaling that they will once again allow states to pass laws that trample all over civil rights.

If the Courts have abandoned our civil rights, then it is up to Congress to act urgently and swiftly. I need your help to compel action.

Very soon, the health, well-being, and very lives of tens of millions of women will be at risk when the right to an abortion disappears overnight. We have the power to protect their human and civil rights.

Please, sign on to my petition right now and DEMAND the Senate pass my legislation to protect the right to choose no matter what. The Women's Health Protection Act has already been passed by the Democratic House, so we must act quickly to send this legislation to the president's desk.

Thank you for stepping up in this critical moment.

Dick
