Dear John,
Are your earned Social Security benefits being taken from you? If you retired under the CSRS system or are in FERS and have a spouse earning a public service pension, your Social Security benefits could be being unfairly reduced or even eliminated.
The Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) unfairly take hard earned benefits of hundreds of thousands of public servants, including teachers, police officers, firefighters and retired federal workers under the CSRS system and both FERS and CSRS for spouses who have earned a public service pension.
On May 18 there will be a National WEP/GPO Repeal Day of Action. Retirees and other supporters will meet in Washington, D.C. for congressional visits before and after a rally on Capitol Hill from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. You can find out more and register here.
Can’t make it to DC?
Share your story of how the WEP/GPO impacts you.
AFGE will use these stories to ensure Congress and the public know the unfair and harmful impact the WEP and GPO have on our nation’s retired public servants. It's time to save public servants from these unfair retirement benefit cuts and repeal the WEP/GPO.
In Solidarity,
AFGE
