The revelation last night that SCOTUS appears set to repeal Roe v. Wade in the near future, which advocates and activists have been warning of for years, was nevertheless devastating.
Our fundamental right to abortion care is under attack, and the stakes in our fight for continued abortion access and reproductive justice couldn’t be higher.
Right now, abortion is still legal across the country, and abortion funds and providers remain on the front lines of this fight, helping people access critical, life-saving care.
Let’s make it plain: Abortion will always exist — but we know that our most vulnerable communities will shoulder the brunt of any decision to restrict and deny safe, legal access to abortion care, particularly Black, brown, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+ and low-income folx.
Abortion is a fundamental human right, and I won’t stop fighting alongside advocates and organizers in the movement to ensure that every person, no matter where they live, is guaranteed their right to abortion care.
We must support providers on the front lines of this fight, and the U.S. Senate must move with urgency to abolish the filibuster and pass the Women’s Health Protection Act without delay. We must legislate as if our lives depend on it because they do.
