Friend, I’m about to take the stage at the EMILY’s List gala where I’m going to speak before some of the most dedicated pro-choice Democratic women from across the country about the fight ahead of us. It couldn’t be happening at a more urgent time with the leaked draft on the SCOTUS decision regarding Roe v. Wade.
Tonight, I have one simple message: Now is the time to fight for women’s reproductive rights. Before I go into the details of my speech, will you split a donation right now between my campaign and Debbie Stabenow so we can keep our Democratic Senate majority and defend the right to choose? It’s never been more urgent.
For nearly 50 years, women in America have been able to control their own bodies and destinies thanks to the protection of Roe v. Wade. Then, Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell packed our courts with far-right judges who are carrying out the mission of a minority of anti-abortion extremists in this country.
Some of these extremists even support banning abortion when a woman’s life is at risk. It’s terrifying, and their attacks won’t just stop there.
If my opponent defeats me and Republicans flip the Senate, he’ll be an automatic vote for legislation banning abortion nationwide.
We can’t let that happen. We can’t let these extremists take away our rights. We must act now.
