URGENT: Last night’s unprecedented leaked SCOTUS opinion confirmed that Roe v. Wade and federal protections for abortion access are being annihilated. States are going to be the last line of defense to protect and expand safe access to abortions. And the moment to act is NOW! But there’s one problem…right now Florida has an Attorney General who is too weak to stand up for reproductive freedom—in fact Ashley Moody is a rubber stamp for DeSantis' anti-choice extremism. There’s no time to waste. Donate now to ensure we have the resources to remove Ashley Moody from office and elect a pro-choice, access-defending Attorney General in Florida. |
Before I get into it, let me be absolutely clear: As Florida’s attorney general I will never investigate nor prosecute someone for getting or providing an abortion.
We’ve been waiting for this. I thought I was prepared for how angry I would be, but I was wrong. I’m FURIOUS.
It looks like the GOP has won their battle to overturn Roe. And to make matters worse, we can be confident that Ron DeSantis and Ashley Moody are cheering this on.
We are far from done. The fight will soon turn to the states, which means WE become the last line of defense to protect the right to choose.
That’s right, THIS IS IT.
Defending safe access to abortion in Florida will officially be on the ballot, and attorneys general across the country are on the frontlines of the fight. But right now Florida has an AG who refuses to defend reproductive freedom and instead serves as a yes person for Ron DeSantis' oppressive extremism.
In November, we’re going to show AG Moody the door, but we need your help. Donate now to help us fight for womens’ rights in Florida.
Last month the Florida GOP passed a deeply unpopular 15 week abortion ban only supported by 34% of Floridians. At the same time, AG Moody came out in support of state-mandated waiting periods, an insidious government intervention to make abortion access more difficult.
Like I said above, as Florida’s attorney general I will never investigate nor prosecute someone for getting or providing an abortion. I will use the power of my office to refuse to enforce any abortion ban. That is what I owe the people who elect me—to be on their side, not on the side of far-right, fringe extremists.
If you’re as mad and determined as me, help us remove AG Moody from office by donating today.
This is a hard day, and I hope you’re able to take a breath. Right now, abortion is still legal, it is still your right. Floridians deserve an attorney general who will fiercely defend their freedoms, including the right to choose. I will be that fighter. Join me.
In solidarity,
Daniel
