AN OUR COMMON PURPOSE EVENT

Civic language both reflects civic culture and shapes it, providing insights into the lived experiences of everyday young Americans. Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement (PACE) recently released new data from its Civic Language Perceptions Project, which shares the results of a nationally representative survey of 5,000 participants that seeks to understand peoples’ perceptions of the language associated with “civic engagement and democracy” work. Please join us for a presentation of the generational differences captured in the data and a conversation with young civic leaders on how civic language informs their work. The program will include a discussion on how perceptions differ across age groups, ways to use this data to engage young Americans in civic engagement and democracy work, and opportunities to participate in future phases of this research.
