John,

Last night, we learned that the Supreme Court is likely to overturn Roe v. Wade any day now.

For nearly 50 years, abortion has been federally protected due to Roe's  foundational precedent – a right that was hard-won by a grassroots movement of women who stood up against government control of their bodies.

But because Donald Trump packed the Supreme Court with far-right extremists, approximately 36 million Americans will lose access to safe and legal abortion.

I know that last night's news is personal for so many of you. I share your pain, your anger, and your sadness – but I want to tell you one thing: There's no way in hell the GOP can ever stop me from fighting for our reproductive freedom.

As long as I am Governor, every New Mexican will have the right to choose from the full spectrum of reproductive care. I even took an archaic anti-abortion law off the books last year – in preparation for the day that the Supreme Court does decide to overturn Roe v. Wade.

When abortion is not federally legal, Governors will be the first line of defense in the fight to protect abortion access: If you believe in reproductive freedom, will you donate $5 right now to help me keep New Mexico blue and keep abortion legal?

Let's keep fighting.
