Last night, we read in shock and horror as our worst nightmare scenario became closer to reality.
This is not fiction, this is not The Handmaid's Tale. This is the dark reality that we must grapple with — Roe v. Wade will likely be overturned by the United States Supreme Court in just a few weeks or months.
John, if there was ever a time to fight with every fiber of your being to protect women and child-bearing people everywhere, that time is NOW.
I know this news is infuriating. And if you're in Texas, Mississippi, Oklahoma or any of the 10 other states poised to immediately ban abortions after a decision is reached, it's utterly terrifying.
I promise you this: I will never stop fighting so long as women and child-bearing people are at risk of becoming second class citizens. I will never stop fighting for the right of every single person to choose, if, when, or how they become a parent.
I’m going to take this fight directly to Congress. There is legislation in the House right now to make Roe law of the land, but we must defeat extremists like Mike Garcia to make it law.
The Supreme Court may have a lot of power, but you know what? So do we. And we're not going to stand silently by and let five extremist justices determine our fate or our future.
