Dear John, As you may have heard, the U.S. Supreme Court has indicated they will overturn precedent set in Roe v. Wade. Abortion is still legal in Virginia. Access to abortion is an LGBTQ+ issue. The movement for reproductive freedom is intertwined with our movement for full liberation and lived equality. LGBTQ+ people who get pregnant deserve access to safe, legal, and accessible abortions and Equality Virginia won’t stop fighting for that right. Your rights are our rights. We at EV understand that this pending SCOTUS decision has a profound impact on many people's lives and is likely stirring a variety of reactions and emotions, from stress, worry, despair, anger, denial - just to name a few. We encourage you to honor and care for your emotions and your needs in the days and weeks ahead, and to trust your intuition about your capacity. Tap-in or tap-out as often as you need - the fight will always be here. For those who are ready now to be loud and take action, please see the opportunities below. |
