Building the Movement

Our Founder and Executive Director Emily Cherniack has been busy building our movement. She was featured on two podcasts in recent weeks: Future Hindsight, a podcast that amplifies civic engagement leaders and The Electorette, a podcast that invites women in political leadership positions to talk about how they're working towards restoring our democracy. In each podcast, Emily discussed how servant leaders can make a difference in Congress and in our democracy.

New Power Project

Since launching the New Power Project last month, New Politics has endorsed two promising leaders who are seeking to make a difference in their communities.

Phil Olaleye is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer who is running for State Representative in Georgia’s 59th District. Having seen the hardships that many communities face in Georgia, Phil is working towards a future where every child can thrive, regardless of their zip code or background.

Andre Carroll is a Year Up Alum who is running for State Representative in Pennsylvania’s 201st District. After witnessing firsthand how issues like incarceration and lack of access to affordable health care services can have a significant impact on families, he decided to run for office to advocate for those who are struggling to access basic needs.

Candidate Spotlight

Will Rollins is a former federal prosecutor who focused on counterterrorism and counterintelligence cases in Southern California. He’s running for Congress because the attack on the U.S. Capitol underscored why America needs a new generation of leaders to end the toxic divisions that threaten our democracy and prevent us from solving problems together.

Due to his own experiences with government-sponsored discrimination, Will understands how this can having lasting affects on all Americans. That has motivated Will to improve the lives of others who face discrimination. Will is running for Congress to serve the 41st district of California and bring justice and accountability back to Washington.
