MESSAGE FROM CATHERINE
Dear John,
In honor of Small Business Week, <[link removed]> this newsletter is dedicated to highlighting the businesses that opened in our District 2 neighborhoods during the pandemic. Small businesses are an essential part of our city and make up 93% of our businesses and support over 364,000 jobs. They add vibrancy to our merchant corridors and are critical to our local economy. Their recovery is absolutely essential to San Francisco's post-Covid economic prosperity, and it is why I continue to support new programs and policies to aid our small businesses <[link removed]>.
The businesses below are just a snapshot of those that have recently opened, and my office will continue to highlight new merchants as they join the incredible merchants and restauranteurs that are already a part of District 2. If you know of a new small business that recently opened and is not listed here, please let my office know at
[email protected]. Please consider shopping and dining at our new establishments to support our merchants and our city's overall recovery.
As we continue to emerge from the pandemic, there are still ongoing questions about resources and guidelines. We've included the latest in our newsletter so you can stay safe as you shop small!
Warm Regards,
Catherine

As of April 1st, the following changes to the San Francisco Health Order <[link removed]> went into effect:
- Proof of vaccination or a negative test will no longer be required to enter inside businesses where food and drink is consumed, such as restaurants and bars, and where elevated breathing occurs, such as gyms and fitness studios.
- Proof of vaccination or negative testing is a strong recommendation rather than a requirement for indoor mega-events.
- The booster mandate is lifted for certain personnel who visit higher-risk settings as part of their jobs.
- Masking is still required under federal and state rules, at least through April 15, for public transportation and indoor public transportation facilities. Masking is still required under state health rules for certain higher risk indoor settings, like hospitals and other healthcare settings, senior care facilities, and homeless shelters.
- Businesses can decide to be more restrictive than local health guidelines and can continue to require masks, proof of vaccination or a negative test from their staff and clients.
- Unless required by a business, in a high-risk setting or on transit, people can decide whether to mask or not by considering their own health, the health of their household, and overall level of community transmission. See HERE <[link removed]> to learn when masks are required.
