I’m furious, folks. Last night, POLITICO reported that the Supreme Court is set to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Nearly half a century of precedent is poised to be overturned by a court with two procedurally stolen seats and three justices appointed by a far-right extremist President who lost the popular vote.
A broken Senate, a broken Republican Party, a broken campaign finance system, and Mitch McConnell's breaking of norms appear to have come together to create a decision that is going to severely, negatively impact half of the population, and disproportionately the poor.
And the bastards are proud of themselves.
The course of action is clear, folks – we need to do everything we can to protect and expand our majorities in the House and the Senate.
Our Democratic House Majority passed the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would enshrine Roe v. Wade as the law of the land.
But the Republican minority in the Senate already filibustered this bill and will continue to until we abolish the arcane procedure – I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: it’s the filibuster or our democracy.
And lest there be any confusion: if you think it's more important to protect the filibuster than to protect a woman's right to bodily autonomy, you ain't pro-choice.
Put pro-choice majorities in the House and Senate this November and we will fix this – permanently.
Scream. Cry. Get angry. And then, let’s get to work.
