John,
I don’t usually send “sky is falling” emails but late last night, a draft opinion was leaked revealing that SCOTUS will reverse Roe v. Wade and I felt as if the sky had fallen and left a gaping hole in the ground. This landmark ruling protects a woman’s right to make reproductive decisions about her own body and the right to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction.
We have feared this possibility for years. Extremists across the country have waited decades for an opportunity to get rid of Roe once and for all – and now we are on the cusp of a massive blow to women everywhere, by restricting reproductive care and safe abortion access for tens of millions of women.
In 2016 we got fired up, marched in pink hats, and many people got engaged for the first time – because this was deeply personal, real and important. Now, we must circle the wagons and re-engage. And fast. This decision alone is evidence of what happens when we allow ourselves to sit back and become complacent.
With women’s most fundamental healthcare rights at stake, we cannot afford to let CT-05 – a purple congressional district – flip red. That would turn control of Congress over to a GOP majority that will continue eviscerating women’s rights – despite the vast majority of Americans supporting a woman’s right to choose! Where will this invasion of privacy end? Will you donate today to support a pro-choice candidate and ensure Congress can continue to fight to protect our rights?

This is the closest the Supreme Court has come to overturning Roe since it was decided almost fifty years ago. In anticipation of this decision, far-right state legislators have passed as many restrictive laws as possible that would make abortion illegal as soon as the Court issues its decision.
This has grave consequences for every woman in this country. For our friends, for our neighbors, for our sisters, for our wives and for our daughters.
We need Congress to act and enshrine the protections of Roe v. Wade into law by passing the Women’s Health Protection Act. And to do so, we need pro-choice champions in the majority in the House. Our Democratic majority is razor-thin and our race in CT-05 will help decide who holds the House. Will you donate to help make sure we hold the pro-choice House majority this November?
We can do this. We can. It will just take all of us. Thank you for all you do,
– Jahana
