Yesterday, POLITICO published a draft majority opinion that would overturn the constitutional right to abortion.
Reproductive health care is a fundamental right, full stop. We cannot allow the extreme right-wing majority on the Supreme Court to erase all of the progress we’ve made to protect access to health care here in Washington.
This is an all-out assault on our health, freedom, and autonomy. Women of color, poor women, and transgender and non-binary people – our most vulnerable populations will suffer because of this cruel and callous decision.
Here in Washington, we’ve enshrined abortion protections in our state. But our neighboring states, and states across this country, have restricted access to abortion. Protections for abortion rights will be determined by state legislatures like ours.
This dangerous ruling will take us back in time – back to when too many people died from unsafe, back-alley abortions. Enough is enough – it’s time for all of us to make our voices heard.
