Friend,

I'm horrified.

Multiple media outlets have obtained a draft decision authored by Supreme Court Justice Samuell Alito characterized by Politico as "a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights". Alito is joined by at least four other conservative justices (Chief Justice Roberts's opinion is unknown at this point).

In other words, Roe v Wade has been overturned.

Republicans knew this decision was coming and in states like Arizona, passed legislation ensuring abortion would be criminalized in the event Roe was overturned.

So what happens now?

This attack on personal freedom is unprecedented and requires an historic response from the majority of Americans who believe in abortion rights. What we do next could very well shape the course of our country for generations to come. With one, united voice we must declare that abortion rights are human rights, and we won't give them up without a fight. And above all, we must push Congress to pass federal legislation protecting abortion rights.

Now is the time to get behind unapologetically pro-choice leaders and candidates who will fight for abortion rights for all who may become pregnant. I'm proud to be such a candidate and I'm asking for your help. Send me to Congress and I will fight like hell to pass federal legislation to protect abortion rights. I hope you will join me.

In the fight,
Kirsten
