Team,

Last night, Politico reported from a leaked draft opinion that the Supreme Court voted to strike down Roe v. Wade – the landmark 1973 decision which ruled that every person had the right to make their own personal reproductive health care decisions.

While it is not yet confirmed, if the reports are true and this backwards ruling is enacted, it will be a horrible tragedy for millions of women who deserve access to abortion care.

This decision would open the floodgates for Republican politicians across the country to make abortion illegal. And it's not just in red states. Here in Rhode Island, I'm running for Congress against Allan Fung, a politician who accepted the endorsement of RI Right to Life, a group that wants to make abortion illegal in our state.

Make no mistake: I will always fight for the right to choose. As Treasurer, I worked to pass the Reproductive Privacy Act which codified Roe into Rhode Island law and I support the Equal Access to Abortion Act because a women’s right to reproductive healthcare should not depend on what type of health insurance she has.

In Congress, I will fight to ensure reproductive rights are protected for all and will support the Women's Health Protection Act to codify Roe into federal law nationwide and block states from enacting medically unjustified barriers to accessing abortion care.

If you're committed to protecting access to reproductive care, please consider making a donation to Planned Parenthood of Southern New England to support their important work to provide reproductive care to thousands of Rhode Islanders.
