Dear John,
Abortion is still legal in West Virginia.
But some of our deepest fears are coming true. Should this draft opinion become law, half the states will effectively eliminate abortion access--including ours.
Banning abortion will not stop people from needing abortion care. It just makes it more difficult and more dangerous to get it, especially for people who are already carrying the greatest burdens.
West Virginians are no strangers to crisis and calamity. We are used to being failed by our government. And it is in our blood to fight for each other.
One small way we can stick up for each other today is to make a donation to Holler Health Justice -- a mutual aid organization that's been fighting to get abortion care and harm reduction services to West Virginians for years. Donate here: https://www.hollerhealthjustice.org/.
There will be more opportunities to stand up, pitch in, and fight back.
Sincerely,
Katey, Stephen, Sarah, Rosemary, Rae, Jake, Jonny, and Ash
