In case you'd forgotten, we are a nonprofit dedicated to helping all the people of New Orleans. Our goal is to make the city a fairer, more inclusive place - a city of opportunity for all. We hope you'll support our mission this Give NOLA Day ([link removed]) !
What makes us different from other nonprofits is our minimal overhead costs. The average overhead costs for a nonprofit are 20%, but at FTNO our overhead costs total just 5.5%. We have brought in over $3.9 million dollars, and of that money, only $217,000 has been spent on administrative costs. However, $3.2 million has been deployed to community-focused projects and initiatives throughout New Orleans.

Most if not all of the funding for these initiatives is brought in from private and corporate foundations.

Here are just some of the major initiatives that we have been working on recently:
** Office of Gun Violence Prevention ([link removed])

We work in partnership with the City of New Orleans' Office of Gun Violence Prevention to ensure that programs fighting violence at its root causes have the resources they need to be effective. Current programs include the Barbers and Beauticians Collective Fellowship, CEO Works partnership, Community Crisis Intervention Team, and Jumpstart program.
** Supporting Food Entrepreneurs ([link removed])

The food in New Orleans is more than just delicious. It is a cornerstone of the culture that has built our city. It's no surprise that full-service restaurants and foodservice contractors ranked in the top five fastest-growing industries in the city of New Orleans in 2019. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and numerous natural disasters have left many area food entrepreneurs in desperate need of support. Forward Together New Orleans is dedicated to helping these entrepreneurs back on their feet and thriving.
** Rental Assistance Program ([link removed])

Thanks to generous donations, FTNO was able to provide more than $400,000 in rental assistance and other aid to those experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness.
** Universal Basic Investment Credit ([link removed])

This program aims to build an ecosystem for equitable economic mobility by creating a pathway toward achieving wealth that doesn’t require active participation in businesses or projects by participants.
** Intellectual Property Exports ([link removed])

As a result of its role as the City’s primary fiscal agent, Forward Together New Orleans has developed a portfolio of intellectual property (IP) assets that City stakeholders utilize for everything from financing projects via alternative capital resources to improving procurement efficiencies within essential public service departments.
** Solar for All NOLA ([link removed])

FTNO is leading the Solar for All NOLA initiative. Solar for All NOLA offers 100% of solar feasible homeowners and business owners an easy solution with either a no money down, no credit requirement solar lease with energy efficiency upgrades, or traditional financing for eligible homeowners and small businesses who wish to acquire a solar energy system.
** Universal Basic Income Pilot ([link removed])

FTNO is helping the City of New Orleans launch its Universal Basic Income Pilot program. This program, made possible by a $500,000 grant from Mayors for a Guaranteed Income, will give 125 people $350/month for 10 months. The program will also involve surveys of all participants regarding the state of their lives to gauge its effectiveness. This pilot program is a huge step towards potentially providing all residents with a universal basic income, which would improve equity and quality of life for all New Orleanians.
** Immigrant Community Assistance Program ([link removed])

In coordination with the Mayor’s Office of Youth and Families, FTNO managed the Immigrant Community Assistance Program to provide $750,000 in immediate financial relief for New Orleans’ immigrant workers, who were hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. As Mayor Cantrell said in announcing the program, “this is another example of our commitment to support all of the workers who are the backbone of our city’s economy.”
