John,
At their convention this weekend, Maine Republicans wasted NO time in adding hateful amendments to their platform designed to target, attack, and dehumanize LGBTQ+ Mainers — including a copycat “Don’t Say Gay” policy like the one Paul LePage’s tax dollars helped support in Florida.
And if that’s not enough, the Maine GOP voted to reaffirm their discriminatory opposition to marriage equality, despite Maine voters choosing to legalize it in 2012.
You read that right, a full 10 YEARS after Mainers voted to legalize same-sex marriage, the Maine GOP still won’t get with the times.
Maine Republicans have made their priorities clear – and we need to do everything we can to stop them and protect LGBTQ+ rights in Maine. Donate $5, $10, $20.22, $50, $100, or whatever you can now. [link removed]
Paul LePage wants to make Maine a mini-Florida, and the Maine GOP is happy to help him. A platform attacking our LGBTQ+ friends and family has no place anywhere, let alone in our own home state.
Let us be clear: We are going to do everything we can to STOP Paul LePage and the dangerous agenda of the Maine GOP. But we can’t win this fight alone.
Rush in any amount now to help us elect Democrats across the state and keep this dangerous Republican platform out of our communities. [link removed]
Thank you,
Maine Dems
