Stand against government overreach—you can help meet the $150,000 goal this #GivingTuesday

Dear John,

Giving Tuesday is just one week away.

This special day is a chance for people like you to come together on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to financially support causes you are passionate about.

We know you have a lot of wonderful places where you can exercise your generosity this year, and we hope you do! But we also hope to encourage you to make a gift to help defend religious freedom and stand against increasing government overreach.

To show you how much your gift is needed, this week we’ll be telling you stories of people just like you who rely on your generosity, John.

Across America, your brave brothers and sisters are standing for religious freedom, but they can’t do it alone. They are waking up to a world that has rejected their right to freely live out their faith, and they need help—they need you.

Jay and Sandy Smith are one example.

Jay is the senior pastor at Cedar Park Church—a family of churches in Washington state that also operates a Christian school. He and Sandy have been advocating for the pro-life cause for years.

And they don’t just talk about being pro-life—they live it.

About twenty years ago, as young students just out of high school, Jay and Sandy experienced an unplanned pregnancy. Despite the pressures on young couples to choose abortion, Jay and Sandy chose life for their oldest of four daughters.

Through their ministry at Cedar Park, they want to help others do the same.

But now, the Washington state government is trying to force them to fund the killing of unborn children!

John, how would you feel if your church was forced to pay for abortions?

Jay and Sandy were determined to do something about it. They don’t support abortion—and their faith won’t let them pay for abortions in the very church where they are working to protect life.

Because of the financial gifts of people like you, Cedar Park Church filed a lawsuit to stop the state of Washington from forcing it to violate its faith.

But their fight has only just begun.

And with government overreach rising, not just in this case but in many others, we are trusting God for at least $150,000 this #GivingTuesday to continue our pro-bono work to stand against these attacks on freedom.

Thankfully, a generous Christian family wants to challenge you to take your stand and make this moment count.

This family feels so strongly about fighting government abuse of power toward people of faith that they’ve given a $75,000 challenge grant. And now, they want to challenge you to give to help reach that $150,000 goal.

John, the financial need to see these cases through to victory is huge as we prepare to go up against government officials with substantial resources at their disposal. It’s critical to stand up to this abuse of power and fight for religious freedom.

After all, it’s not just Jay and Sandy’s freedom on the line.

When the government threatens religious freedom, it affects all of us. You know that if the First Amendment loses, we all lose. That’s why we must act now to stand against these attacks on our freedoms.

Will you rise to the challenge and stand against government overreach this #GivingTuesday?

We only have one week to meet our $150,000 goal.

Your generous #GivingTuesday gift allows us to continue the fight for freedom in the courtroom on behalf of brave men and women like Jay and Sandy. And it will help us achieve critical, generational victories for you—and for your children and grandchildren.

So much is at stake. Your financial support today is vital.

With so many other possibilities this #GivingTuesday, please consider a tax-deductible gift to help preserve our most precious liberties. It’s a gift that will make a lasting difference.
