It’s Mental Health Awareness Month, and now that so many people have come to realize that mental health and physical health come as a pair – we all have both – the time has come for better and improved access to support, services, and understanding. We need to stand up together, and demand #MoreForMentalHealth and suicide prevention, and that means advocating for legislation and policies that we know through research save lives.
Throughout the month, AFSP is offering opportunities for you to play a crucial role in sending the message that we demand #MoreForMentalHealth. You can find information on the important legislation we need to fight for on our [More for Mental Health]([link removed]) website (and how you can send messages to your representatives), along with both ready-made and customizable social graphics to share with your social media followers. You’ll also find out about special events you can attend throughout the month, including:
- "Anyone Can Advocate: A Conversation with AFSP Advocates" – May 4 at 2 pm ET on AFSP’s [Facebook]([link removed]) and [YouTube]([link removed])
- “Ask Dr. Jill: What Have We Learned About Suicide from Scientific Research?” – May 25 at 3 pm ET – [register to attend]([link removed]).
We need YOU: To raise your voice. To spread the word. To enlist your friends, family, and social media followers. To become informed. To get involved.
We’ve got our marching shoes on! It’s time to get up and [join AFSP and our partners]([link removed]) by lending your voice and your actions, as together we use the hashtag #MoreForMentalHealth to encourage more people to spread the word and help change the world for the better.
