May Day, falling on May 1st (that’s today!), is often overlooked and ignored in the U.S. — and that’s by design.
People in power don’t want to tell you that the holiday is to celebrate the labor movement, and the first May Day was a nationwide strike demanding workers to have an 8-hour workday.
Workers have continued to fight for their rights since May Day — from the Great American Boycott to Occupy Wall Street — and now the Amazon Labor Union and Starbucks Union.
Every worker deserves the power and the benefits of a union. The House of Representatives recently passed the PRO Act (Protecting the Right to Organize Act of 2021), and now the Senate must pass it as well. Will you add your name to a grassroots petition urging the Senate to pass the PRO Act?

But young people across the country are organizing their workplaces at an unprecedented rate — because work shouldn’t suck. Period. We’ve had enough of being exploited for poverty wages while corporations and executives profit off of our labor.
It’s our labor that creates their wealth, not the other way around.
The truth is that young people want work, but with the dignity we deserve. We deserve a liveable wage, a work-life balance, good benefits, and jobs that uplift our communities — not work that is poisoning our bodies and communities while paying unlivable wages.
