The White House announced a new military aid package of $800 million on April 21, just five days after the previous $800 million aid package. This package adds 72 howitzers and explicitly includes trucks to tow those howitzers—making them easier to maintain than self-propelled howitzers.

As Europe diversifies away from Russian gas and oil, it plans to accelerate the deployment of renewable power sources and the consumption of renewable hydrogen. However, this requires adequate and diverse supply chains. For example, REPowerEU aims to replace 25-50 bcm per year of natural gas consumption with 5 million tons (mt) of domestically produced renewable hydrogen and 10 mt of imported renewable hydrogen. Today, under 1 mt per year of low-carbon hydrogen is produced globally.

During the first year of the Biden administration, the North Korean regime was relatively quiet in both rhetoric and action. In 2022, however, the regime has embarked on a systematic and deliberate campaign of weapons testing, with a total of 13 weapons tests.

One clear goal of China is to be a high-tech leader, and one indicator is to be a leading exporter of high-tech products. Historically, most high-tech exports have come from foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs), both subsidiaries of multinationals as well as Chinese-foreign joint ventures. In the 2000s, such firms accounted for well over 80 percent of China’s high-tech exports.
