This is urgent, John: 2021 was the deadliest year for gun violence in decades – and unless things change NOW, 2022 could be even worse.

The good news is that the House has finally passed a bill to expand background checks and properly regulate gun sales — but the bad news is that it happened more than a year ago, and Mitch McConnell has been blocking it in the Senate ever since. It can't move forward unless we speak out NOW.

Please, with so much at stake, add your name now to demand Congress pass expanded background checks!

John, I cannot overstate how much we're counting on your action today. As survivors of gun violence ourselves, those of us leading Brady's efforts know firsthand what toll it takes to have to wait for justice and change.

When my mother was shot and murdered, I had to wait nearly 12 years for justice. When we fought to pass the Brady bill, it took seven years — and six votes, under three presidents. We cannot wait anymore to pass the kind of life-saving legislation that's gathering dust in the Senate right now.

That's why we have to take advantage of the gun violence prevention majorities we elected to Congress and the current White House. The NRA will fight this bill with everything they have, so we have to fight even harder. They know that gun sales have been skyrocketing this year, that deaths by gun violence are rising — but Mitch McConnell and their pocket politicians won't lift a finger to save lives. So it's on us to demand the change this country needs.

So please — if we speak up loudly enough, we can force a vote in the Senate, but it has to be NOW. Add your name now to demand they pass expanded background checks to regulate gun sales!

Thank you for never giving up the fight.
