AAA: "More Than 55 Million Travelers Taking to the Roads and Skies this Thanksgiving"
Sign on before Thanksgiving to fix our roads, highways and bridges →

John, 55 million Americans will travel for the Thanksgiving holiday, and the majority of them -- more than 49 million drivers -- will hit the road.

This Thanksgiving is expected to be the second-highest travel volume for the holiday in nearly 20 years, and John, our transportation infrastructure is badly in need of repair.

Add your name if you're ready to get to work fixing our roads and bridges. We need to gather 5,000 signatures before Thanksgiving.

I've racked up more than half a million miles on my Chrysler minivan traveling across the state, meeting with Delawareans and listening to their concerns. Like so many Delawareans, I believe that our roads are in desperate need of repairs. In fact, nearly 200,000 miles of major highways require repairs, and more than 47,000 of our nation's bridges have been deemed "structurally deficient."

I'm helping to lead the charge in the Senate to finally fix our infrastructure. Over the summer, I teamed up with my colleagues and introduced a bipartisan plan that would be the most significant highway legislation in U.S. history. Our plan would:

Make a historic $287 billion investment to upgrade and modernize our infrastructure
Direct $259 billion toward repairing and maintaining roads and bridges
Invest $10 billion in programs and policies that reduce emissions and enhance resiliency

Across the country, our highways need to work for everyone.

Let's make history together: Sign on before Thanksgiving to support the largest highway legislation our country has ever seen, so we can get to work fixing our roads and bridges.

All the best,

TC
