With the political climate how it is right now, it's easy to feel hopeless. It's easy to read the headlines or listen to the news and think that all we are focusing on is the controversy of the day.
But if we take a moment to think about what we've accomplished together in just over a year, it's pretty incredible.
People like you believed that Dr. Kim Schrier, a pediatrician, could be Washington's 8th District's next congresswoman -- and you put in the work to make it happen. You made your voices heard and elected Kim to fight for you in D.C., where she became the first Democrat to ever represent the district and the only woman doctor in Congress.
But now, we're at risk of all of that progress being erased next year by a "Trump supporter" opponent who was recruited by national Republicans and special interest groups.
The Republicans have their hand-picked candidate, so we have to ramp up our grassroots efforts. At the beginning of the month, we set a grassroots donor goal that we needed to hit in order to stay on track. But now, with just under a week to go, we're still 523 donors short.
Can we count on you to step up before Saturday at midnight, and chip in $5 or more to add your name to our grassroots donor roster?
Hitting our goal will send a message to our new opponents that running a grassroots campaign is possible, and that our voices still matter.
