In a recent Tweet, I shared that my opponent, incumbent Danny K. Davis, told me the only reason he beat me last cycle is because he has greater name recognition.
He has about 13,400 Twitter followers, so I put out a call in that Tweet to get to 10,000 followers. Our campaign now has 10,500 followers! That puts us closer and closer to raising the awareness we need and finishing what we started last year: unseating an incumbent who’s spent 24 years in Congress serving his own interests rather than the people’s interests.
While we’ve been busy on the ground, growing the support we need to win, he’s already taken tens of thousands of dollars from corporate PACs and special interests this cycle alone.
A “representative” who keeps winning without having to work for it while raking in Big Money bucks has no right representing us in Congress, and he’s part of a corporate-funded status quo we simply must shatter. That’s why we don’t take any corporate PAC or special interest money—because a representative who’s funded by corporations can never truly represent the people.
If name recognition is our opponent’s only real strength, we can beat him at his own game. But to achieve the level of awareness our campaign needs to do that, we need your help.
With you on our team, we’ll continue the outreach we need to do and make 2020 the year of a brand-new Congress that’s for us, by us.
