I often get asked what made me decide to run for office.
For me, it’s an easy answer: Maryland is my home.
I graduated from Baltimore City College High School and worked as a lifeguard in the summers. I got my undergrad degree from the University of Maryland and my law degree from the University of Baltimore Law School. I received life-saving care from University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center when I was in a serious car accident. I worked as an investigative prosecutor and Baltimore County Executive before serving the 2nd District in Congress. I love going to Ocean City in the summer and Orioles games.
In other words, I grew up here. I raised my family here. And now, my grandkids are growing up here.
My neighbors are like my family, so it makes me angry when Washington Republicans try to take away their health care or roll back the environmental protections that preserve the Chesapeake Bay.
That’s why I do this job -- to fight back against the policies that hurt us and fight for the policies that will improve our communities and make life a little easier for Marylanders.
I love this job, but I can’t do it without you. We have an important fundraising deadline at midnight, and I could really use your help. Any amount you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.
