Virtue signaling.

That’s what Charlie Baker calls using public transportation, something over a million commuters depend on every day.

Last Thursday, when Boston Public Radio’s Jim Braude asked Baker why he’s so reluctant to take the T, Baker suggested that it would be an empty, symbolic gesture.

Experiencing the system that your constituents use every day isn’t virtue signaling--it’s “doing your homework,” as one transportation advocate said.

We must hold Charlie Baker accountable for our transportation crisis and we’re going to need to double our efforts. Can you chip in $8 or $16, the amount it would cost for a one-way, or round trip commuter rail ticket from Charlie’s house to North Station?

You've seen our petitions and protests demanding Baker use the system he’s let fall into disrepair. Our work pushed Baker to take the T for a "virtue signaling" photo op, but he hasn't set foot on the commuter rail in his 5 years as governor. We'll keep pressuring Baker to experience the struggles we face daily on Charlie's MBTA, but we'll need your help to keep it up.
