Georgia Is Putting Parents First
Georgia is on the front lines of the fight for parental rights.

On Thursday, Governor Kemp signed <[link removed]> into law multiple pieces of legislation empowering parents by increasing transparency, oversight, and options when it comes to their children’s education.

These laws are a result of a lot of hard work from our Sentinels and activists in Georgia, so congratulations!

Here’s what Gov. Kemp signed:



- HB 1084: Protects students and teachers from racial discrimination, compelled belief that any race is inherently superior or inferior, and any curricula, classroom instruction, or mandatory training programs that advocate for the divisive worldview of critical race theory.
- HB 1178: The Parents’ Bill of Rights, acknowledges the fundamental right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children, protecting parents’ ability to review all instructional materials intended for use in their child’s classroom.
- HB 517: Expands Georgia's private school tax credit so that parents in Georgia will have more options for their children’s education.

Happening in Washington
GDP and Inflation: The Commerce Department released <[link removed]> U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) figures for the first quarter of 2022…with Biden at the helm, the economy shrank by 1.4%.



- A shrinking GDP means that America produced fewer goods and services.
- But spending is way up, and Congress wants to spend billions more!
- This is a recipe for even higher inflation—inflation can be described as “too much money chasing too few things.”



Pro-Life: Sen. Rubio (R-Fla.) introduced <[link removed]> a bill to prevent federally funded abortions:



- The Title X program provides federal funding for family planning services, except for “where abortion is a method of family planning.”
- Planned Parenthood sidestepped this rule by using its Title X funds to pay for abortion facilities without spending the funds directly on abortion procedures.
- In 2019, the Trump Admin put a stop to this loophole and required that abortion facilities be completely seperate from facilities that receive Title X funding.
- The Biden Admin reversed this decision, providing the impetus for Senator Rubio’s life-saving legislation which Heritage Action strongly supports.



China Policy: The Senate formally voted to go to conference committee to hash out the differences between the House-passed China bill and the Senate-passed China bill:



- While these bills are marketed as “China-related,” in reality, the bills do very little to actually confront the threat of China.
- Both bills are insufficient <[link removed]> and include massive corporate handouts and liberal wishlist items.

Border Security: Biden’s Department of Homeland Security chief –– Secretary Mayorkas –– testified in front of the Homeland Security Committee in the House. Biden to Redefine “Sex”
The Left is waging a war against American culture. From critical race theory to critical gender theory, they are trying to indoctrinate young children. In case you missed it, Biden’s Department of Education is set to release a rule change redefining “sex” in Title IX to include “sexual orientation” and “gender identity.”

If Biden has his way, any school that accepts federal funding (this means kindergarten through college), will be forced to let students use the bathrooms or play on the sports team of whatever gender they choose to identify as.

They’re trying to erase women, destroy women’s sports, undermine scholarship opportunities, and take away safe and private spaces, like bathrooms and locker rooms.
